Editorial Shoot

I started off the shoot with the braids bent round from the back of the head, forwards. As you can see I feel with the braids in this position, the photo on the right is more successful, as you can really see the shape of the braids. However, I think the shots further down the page, were more successful, with the braids facing outwards, as the shape of the braids mirrors the models shoulders and so the image appears more balanced.

I really like this camera angle, unfortunately these pictures are slightly blurred and so don't look very professional if enlarged. I feel the hair and styling go really well together colour wise and I'm glad I practiced the look prior to the shoot, as the neck and shoulders could have been blue and I'm still not convinced that would have worked as well.

Again I think this look in hindsight could have benefitted from something more, whether it be more shading on the eyes, as the colour has faded slightly from reality in the pictures, or the crystals on the lips, or maybe I could have continued the split peas down from the forehead, round the cheekbones.

I think the editorial look benefits from having the hair at a slight angle, as it adds another dimension to the image, as opposed to just a straight on shot. However, I'm torn by this because I feel the straight on shots show off the styling more, and I did work really hard on creating and putting as much effort into the styling as the hair and makeup.

I think if I was to reshoot I would ask the model to extend her neck, so more red was visible and puff out the chest so the styling sat up better and maybe try tilting the head back and round, working the antlers, yet still having the eyes as the main focus. In order to do this I would have to add colour and depth to the eye area. I could also maybe exaggerate the brows even more than I have.
