Practicing the Look!

I have practiced the editorial look so I feel more confident during the shoot and I can organise myself more efficiently.
To start I shall gel the hair into two high bunches with a straight parting down the centre of the hair. I will then fishtail plait the hair, weaving in wire as I go. This will enable the plaits to bend into various positions during the shoot, and will also support the plaits upright, so they do not hang as they usually would.

I will then cover the head in fuller earth and carve out my tribal design/ my circular shapes.

Then, I will add the split peas to the face using latex

I will then apply the base/foundation and draw on the cheek and neck designs using Aquacolour and eyeliner.

Here, I have tried using blue Aquacolour on the neck, as it was always my intention to have a cooler colour palette for my Editorial Look in comparison to my Catwalk Look however, on reflection I think the neck would be best off in a brown or a dark red, as the blue does not work as well as I'd hoped with my chosen styling.

I will then dry and spray the fullers earth gold, for a richer embellished feel, and I feel this would compliment the beading on the styling. I will also colour the scratched in design to match the neck colour.

I may need to spray the hair and wire too so any sticking out wire is more disguised. However, I know my model has more hair than this manikin head, so the wire will be more disguised anyway. One problem that could occur though, would be the weight of the hair, and the wire may not hold the hair as upright as I would like. If this happens I will tie wire to the hair as shown in my design drawings or I will use cross grips, to clip the bottom of the braid to the head, so the braid will be pulled upwards.
