This moodboard gave me general inspiration when thinking of which root to take with my Tribal photoshoots, I love the use of linear patterns and dots teamed with healthy skin or a more textured painterly skin, this could be achieved by using fullers earth or face masks, as we did in earlier makeup lessons.
I'm also inspired by the use of accessories and styling and how extreme/creative some tribes are.

Editorial Moodboard:
From these images I take away thoughts on hair structure and texture, how dry yet fluffy it is, the use of hair in general, and how this can be encorporated.
How facial features can be manipulated to look more or less pronounced than they are in person. Maybe I could use wax or prosthetics to accent these areas of the face e.g. cheekbones or eyes or brows? maybe even the neck and shoulders?
I especially like the aboriginal inspired images by makeup artist, Ayami Nishamura and how these add texture to the skin whilst being flat, I can also appreciate these images design wise, and maybe they would achieve a different effect if they were split peas not dots.
Catwalk Moodboard:
One thing I notice about the catwalk is the combination of masculinity and femininity. I'd like to aim to achieve the clean dewy clear skin of the catwalk, this healthy glow would be typical of a tribesman, always outdoors, absorbing nature. I would like my design to be quite linear and graphic in terms of the abstract shapes I will use and the use of colour will look flat in comparison to the textured appearance of my editorial look. I have selected these images because although they are so crisp they also have great arts and crafts elements and this is somthing I want to use in all of my images to define me as a more arty makeup artist rather than beauty, although I want the final image to be 'beautiful'. Colours on the catwalk here, seem to be a mix of muted natural colours and bright, I feel it is the combination of the two that makes a successful image so my aims now are to think hard about design and colour palettes for the catwalk. Remembering any design has to be extremely sturdy, to avoid risk of falling apart down the runway, but it also has to be striking enough to be visible from a distance and still have an impact.
